Deadline for returning invitations

Everyone,

It is important that your reunion invitations be sent back as soon as possible. I need to give Mike's Firehouse orders by 7/7/07. With that in mind I would like all invitations returned by 7/4/07. You can contact me with any questions @ 517-290-6997.

Hotel Issues

I received an email from Jennifer Ludwick yesterday (actually it was her second attempt) informing me that their is no availability in the main hotels in the Lansing area. I called a contact at the Lansing C.V.B and she informed me that their are 4 events in the area on our weekend and they had accounted for all of the bookings.

As a side note, one of the events is the Common Ground Festival which features concerts every night in Lansing. They have a web site if anyone is interested in the schedule of events.

Back to the Hotel issues, I offer the following thoughts:
1. The Lansing CVB informed me that they have been referring people to Jackson and Charlotte for hotel accommodations.
2. I didn't check the smaller hotels (i.e. Hebbs Inn in Mason) so their might be options there.
3. My wife, Jodie, is a meeting planner and she mentioned that these groups probably reserved large blocks of rooms and those agreements will end within a month of the event so starting next Monday 6/18/2007 they will be releasing unused rooms for availability. I did call the Holiday Inn South and they confirmed this to be the case for them and they encouraged me to call back on the 18th. I assume other locations would be in the same situation.

Dear Classmates,

Just wanted to let everyone know that Heather (Williams) and Chris Worthington are sending the invitation out as I type this. I provided them with the list of addresses last week so I am responsible for us being behind schedule. Luckily for me, Heather is still a very nice person and didn't yell at me for being tardy. She and Chris are being very good sports and I really appreciate their help.

That being said, I would really appreciate everyone responding as quickly as possible to the invitation so that we don't get any further behind.

I would also like to thank Patty (Davis) Kirchmeier for all of her help. She has tracked down another 20 or more people in the last week and those updates have been forwarded to Heather.

Mailing List

We now have a mailing list feature on this site. It's quite simple. All you do is type in your email address. Next, you will be sent one email from feedblitz, which you need to click on the link to prove you are you. After that you will be "registered." Then you will receive an email notification whenever something new is posted on the blog. The email notifications are sent out during the night of the day I post something (e.g., I post something at 8 a.m. on Monday, you will be notified Monday night via email of the post). This will save you from having to check the blog on your own to see if new posts are made. You will NOT receive any spam from signing up on the mailing list. You will also not be notified every time a comment is made by someone.

Message Board

Thanks to Lisa Matt (Class of '88), we now have a Class of '87 Reunion Message Board. I am not 100% up on the message board stuff -- but this is what I know... In order to post on the message board, you have to create an account. It is free. You need to login, do the password thing, etc... Then you will be sent an email with an activation code. They want to be sure you are you. The first time you post you must enter the activation code. After that, you just need to login in with your username (the name that you will post under) and your password.I put a link to the message board on the blog. Click the link and it will take you to the message board. The address is http://masonbulldogs87.proboards107.com/index.cgi if you would rather type it in yourself. Hopefully this will be a fun way for folks to chat back and forth. Feel free to post comments on this blog site too.

20 Yr. Class Reunion

I thought using some modern technology may assist us with organizing our 20 year class reunion. Yes -- that's right -- we will be having our 20 year class reunion this summer! My hope in developing a class blog and message board is they might help us 1) track people down more easily (post your comments and/or email address if you want), 2) get more input on what to do during our reunion weekend, and 3) get more people to help. Let's see if it works... Pass this site on to others you know who graduated from Mason High School in the class of '87 and let's see what happens. Thanks!
